Field Rules

  1. OMAS is an AMA sanctioned site. You are to comply with all AMA safety and flying rules.
  2. You must have a current AMA Membership Card with a current OMAS membership sticker in your possession before you can handle a plane on the ground or fly.
  3. Your name, phone number, AMA #, and UAS ID must be on the airplane.

  4. Range check your transmitter.
  5. Do not start reciprocating engines before 9am (electric motors are exempt).
  6. Flying is allowed from 9:00am to 1 hour after sunset.
  7. Mufflers are required on all reciprocating engines larger than .06 cubic inch displacement.
  8. Make sure bystanders are not in the prop arc when doing run-ups.
  9. No run-ups are allowed in the pit area except on club check-out stands or grass safe areas.
  10. You may stand near the runway for takeoffs and landings.
    Stay clear of the runway by 15 ft. when flying and behind the pilot safety fence.
  11. You must announce your intention to land, takeoff or any other runway activity including grass takeoffs, landings, and low fly-by passes.
  12. A pilot who announces "Dead Stick" has priority.
  13. Grass takeoffs and landings west of the paved runway must be north of the flag pole.
  14. Taxiway takeoffs are prohibited. Hand launches must be within 25 ft. of the runway and in the general direction of the prevailing air traffic pattern.
  15. Aircraft will not be flown west of the runway south of a point 100 ft. north of the benches or the mid-point of the runway.
  16. Grass takeoffs and landings are the exception. Combat flying must be done east of the runway at all times.
  17. Do not fly closer than 50 ft. to the dock and sheds when personnel are working in the area.
  18. Do not fly directly over any living quarters on the Lewis Farm property.
  19. A guest flyer (from another club) must have a current AMA membership and be accompanied by their OMAS host.
  20. Under the AMA Introductory Pilot Program, a non-AMA person may receive lessons during a 60-consecutive-day period under the direction of a designated AMA Instructor.
  21. All non-pilots, (visitors, family and pets) must stay on the west side of the benches and 50 ft. back from the runway approach over the lake.
  22. Children must be under the direct supervision of an adult at all times.
  23. The use of the recovery boats are restricted to OMAS members and a life preserver (PFD-Personal Flotation Device) must be worn.
  24. The last member to leave the field should make sure the boathouse, tool shed, clubhouse, and toilets are properly secured.
  25. Do not fly over the pit area behind the safety fence or near or over tables and taxi-ways. This includes drones and helicopters.
  26. Do not fly over or near the Lewis Farm family house area, as marked below.
  27. Do not stand on the runway and fly your aircraft.
  28. When more than one aircraft is flying, pilots must decide on a clockwise, or counter-clockwise pattern. Do not fly in opposing patterns.
